The Bigger Picture
Why We Kept MDViewerOnline Simple
Every Markdown editor eventually gets asked to become something bigger — accounts, cloud sync, collaboration, plugins. We've deliberately kept MDViewerOnline out of that loop.
No accounts, on purpose
The moment a tool asks for an account, it's asking you to trust it with your documents indefinitely. MDViewerOnline stores your work in your own browser instead. That's a real tradeoff — there's no sync between devices — but it means there's nothing to sign up for and nothing of yours sitting on a server you don't control.
Features earn their place
Split view, drafts, diagrams, math, and export to HTML/PDF are all things people actually reach for while writing and sharing Markdown. Each one is there because it supports that core loop, not because it rounds out a feature comparison table.
What that means going forward
We'd rather MDViewerOnline stay a fast, free, no-friction editor than grow into a platform. If a feature doesn't make writing and previewing Markdown better, it's not going in.
